Fatmir Stavileci is born in 1947 in Shtimë, originally from Gjakova. After completing primary and secondary education (normal for teachers), in 1967 he enrolled at the Higher Pedagogical School - the education section of fine arts in Skopje. He has previously worked as a visual art teacher, while in the meantime he was finishing the Academy of Figurative Art - the painting section in the class of prof. Tahir Emra in Pristina.
He has held various independent exhibitions in Skopje, Ljubljana, Novo Mesto.
According to Ana Frangocskws, art curator, the artist's research is divided into 2 thematic discourses. One side deals with imagery where surrealism and realism are compared, while the other oscillates between surrealism and metaphysical character.
Landscapes, still lives, unknown cities, zoos and motifs, elements of tradition and folklore, figurative performances, fragments from the human body, all these are one part of the repertoire that is layered in the fabrics of Stavilec, whereas their fantastic and surreal attachment creates conglomerate
unreal, with a narrative - fabulous character.
