To enter the park of Butrint, you face a wooded area which was also declared a Cultural Monument for the protection of archaeological areas of environmental importance. To discover it for the first time, you have to go through some ravines left in time, greened by tall trees.
Within the Park there are 10 outstanding archaeological sites related to the history of Butrint.
Butrint is a microcosm of Mediterranean history, presenting the rise and fall of the great empires that have dominated the region. Today it is an amalgam of monuments that present a space of over 2000 years from the Hellenic temples of the c. 4 before Kr. to the Ottoman forts of the beginning of the century 19. According to classical mythology, Buthrotum was built by exiles who fled after the fall of Troy. - The Artwork
